Norfolk Holiday Homes chooses to assess all their properties, this allows us, as a holiday letting agency to enter each of our properties at least twice a year to complete safety, legislative and quality checks which serves to offer peace of mind to our guests that our properties are meeting all their legal obligations.
Norfolk Holiday Homes quality assessor Carol has been in the Hospitality Industry for over 30 years, Hotel Management in the early days with emphasis on Food & Beverage and latterly in Quality Assessment, Compliance and Training.
Carol has a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and taught in further education (various Hospitality courses) from 2001 to 2004.
In 2004 Carol became an Accommodation and Food Quality Inspector for RAC Hotel Services, moving to become a Quality and Training Manager for Quality in Tourism, the assessment provider for VisitEngland in 2005
2017 saw Carol become Operations Manager for Quality in Tourism & M-Assessment Services who are a national, independent quality assessment awarding body.
In May 2018, having worked alongside Sandra and Julie at Norfolk Holiday Homes for almost 15 years carrying out their holiday homes quality assessments on behalf of Visit England and Quality in Tourism, Carol decided to give up her nomadic lifestyle working throughout the UK and find something more local. Too good an opportunity to pass up, Norfolk Holiday Homes were looking for another person with experience in the industry and with Carols extensive knowledge and experience she was offered the opportunity to work with Sandra and Julie and to use her experience to develop an internal Norfolk Holiday Homes quality assessment.
Carol has not reinvented the wheel, but has tailored the national quality standards to make them up to date and relevant for the modern-day guest requirements.
Each star rating is given as an overall percentage; however, the property is only awarded a star rating based on each area of the property (living areas, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen & housekeeping) meeting or exceeding a required percentage. In brief, a property is only as good as its weakest area so if all areas of the property achieve a four-star percentage except the bathroom which meets a three-star percentage then a three-star rating is awarded.
Along with checks for quality and facilities there are very stringent cleanliness and safety checks and all paperwork is checked to ensure the owners are meeting all their legal obligations. Your family’s safety is a priority for you so it is important to us too. It also keeps the owners of the properties on their toes, especially those who live away and rely on us to prompt them to ensure they meet strict, ever changing legal requirements.
Some of our holiday homes are also assessed by VisitEngland or Quality in Tourism, their assessment process is explained on their websites which can be accessed by clicking on their respective names above.
